What is Japan's Railroads' Anniversary?

On October 14, 1872, Japan's first railroad, between Shimbashi and Yokohama, was opened for traffic. So we call tha date, October 14th, Japan's Railroads' Anniversary, and all railroad companies in Japan make plans before and after the anniversary.

About the Ticket.

Tetsudo no Hi Kinen JR Zensen Nori-hodai Ticket, Japan's Railroads' Anniversary JR Open Ticket is released as a joint plan by all of six passenger railroad companies of JR Group.

Why is it called "another kind of Seishun 18 Ticket"? Following rules are the same of Seishun 18 Ticket.

• You can enjoy all of economy class car of rapid/local trains of all of JR Lines with it.
• it is not valid for shinkansens (superexpress trains), limited express trains, express trains, reserved seats of first-class cars, and sleeping cars.

But there are following difference between it and Seishun 18 Ticket.

• It is one piece of three coupon tickets, while "Seishun 18 Ticket" is one piece of five coupon tickets.
• Its price is 9,180 yen, that is, one coupon is worth 3,060 yen. On the other hand, one coupon of "Seishun 18 Ticket" is worth 2,300 yen.
• Children's fare is available (4,590 yen).

Its sales/valid periods in 2008 are as follows.

From Oct. 3, 2007 to Oct. 19, 2008.

Valid Period

From Oct. 4, 2007 to Oct. 19, 2008.
